THE INTERSECTIONALITY OF CULTURE, FASHION, AND ACTIVISM
Chicana in the City is a media platform created to heal our internal community’s narratives while challenging cultural obstacles and stereotypes in mainstream media. We spotlight authentic stories, perspectives and personal anecdotes to help dismantle oppressive depictions of our Chicano, Indigenous, and Latine communities. Our news outlet focuses on elevating and leveraging those who have been marginalized even within our neighborhoods and collectives. We celebrate our rich cultura and hometown heroes, but we also speak out against harmful narratives and encourage others to share their stories.
Chicana in the City Talk Show is a docu-series style show that spotlights pioneers and innovators who are reshaping the narrative of our culture in entertainment, fashion, beauty, entrepreneurship, politics and social justice spaces. These thought leaders with impactful stories are actively pivoting and breaking down barriers while challenging cultural obstacles and stereotypes in mainstream media. Chicana in the City allows guests to be vulnerable, lead with their intuition, and connect with their cultura to create their legacy and inspire future generations to come.
Chicana in the City Magazine brings a new point of view to the editorial world where we use mass media as a powerful tool for a positive revolutionary change. We believe the stories we tell can inspire, educate, and empower people to make a difference in their communities and beyond. With each editorial piece we shed light on new perspectives, untold stories and community's contributions hidden from the mainstream platforms. Our vision is to create greater impact for future generations.
Chicana in the City aims to reshape our communities narrative, heal, represent, and bring our cultura to the forefront without watering it down, dimming it or typecasting it. We also take action to help others beyond our immediate communities, computer screen and social media. We hope to inspire the next generations to come and pay homage to the generations that came before us. In this city we fight for our creativity, our visions, and our legacy.
